TerraTopic is operated by TerraTopic Folkedal, a Norwegian sole proprietorship (ENK), organisation number 933 307 956. Our business address is Veslebakken 1, 3047 Drammen, Norway. Contact Anders at anders@terratopic.com about your order, a complaint or these terms.
What our service provides
Public terrain data is available free of charge from its original sources. TerraTopic provides the processing, packaging and distribution service that makes that data easy to access and use. Our fee covers bringing the selected data together, preparing it in your chosen output format, packaging it and making your files available for download. Your selected area, elevation source and imagery options define the package. The underlying data remains subject to its source licence and attribution requirements. Your checkout summary describes the specification, processing estimate and price before you pay. You receive a receipt and a separate email when your files are ready. A terrain-print order provides a digital model you can use for printing; a printed object is not included.
Check the format before ordering
Select the format intended for your software or game and check its stated requirements. You need compatible software, enough storage and computing capacity, and an internet connection for download. Source resolution, capture dates, coverage and limitations affect the result. Resampling does not create newly measured detail. Map previews and AI suggestions are aids to choosing an area; the order specification is the record of what we undertake to supply. Terrain data is not certified for navigation, engineering, surveying or safety-critical decisions.
Price and payment
The checkout shows the currency and amount you will pay before you authorise a charge. Payment is processed by Stripe. Your bank may apply its own exchange rate or fees. We do not add a recurring charge. If a material pricing error is discovered, we contact you and do not substitute a higher price without your agreement. A refund for a failed order returns through the original payment method.
Delivery and keeping your files
The processing window shown for your order is its delivery estimate. We tell you if we encounter a problem. New packages are available to download for 14 days from package upload; the delivery email records your deadline. Download before that date and keep your own copy. Existing orders keep their recorded deadline. Expiry of hosted files does not end any continuing licence you hold or remove your statutory rights.
One free rebuild
Where the expiry email offers it, you may request one free automatic rebuild of the original paid order within 30 days after its download deadline. Use the button and authenticate as the owner. Repeated clicks reuse the same replacement order. The original specification and source facts must remain eligible; we do not silently replace a source with different data. This offer does not cover changed specifications, create another purchase, or grant another free rebuild of the replacement. Your legal remedies for a defective product are separate from this offer.
How you may use the data
Your receipt and delivered package contain the source licences and attribution that apply to your terrain. They determine any attribution, redistribution or other source-specific obligations. We do not claim ownership of third-party or public-domain data, and these terms do not add restrictions to rights an open licence already grants. Keep the required credits and licence notices with your work. See the licence and attribution page for further guidance.
Problems and refunds
Contact us with your order reference if files are missing, damaged or different from what you ordered. We investigate and provide the remedies required by applicable law, which may include correction, replacement, a price reduction, cancellation, refund or compensation. Our automated failure process normally refunds an unresolved order at the 48-hour escalation rung unless you have chosen an available alternative. You do not have to wait for that process to exercise a legal right. Preparing the package or downloading it does not remove rights concerning defects.
Withdrawal and cancellation
Consumers may have a 14-day statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract. See the withdrawal page for the instructions and model form. We do not treat acceptance of these terms, ordering a customised area, payment or beginning to process and package the data as a waiver of that right. Where a lawful digital-content exception applies, it requires separate express prior consent, acknowledgement and the required confirmation. Until that process is in place for your order, we do not rely on it. Business purchases do not carry a consumer withdrawal right simply because these instructions are available.
Your rights and resolving a disagreement
Norwegian law governs these terms, without removing mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country or any court rights you have. No term excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem. Norwegian consumers can seek advice from Forbrukerrådet and ask Forbrukertilsynet to mediate; eligibility and current fees are explained by those bodies. We do not require consumers to use binding arbitration. The version accepted at checkout remains the version for that purchase; later website changes do not rewrite it.
